They are a member of the Philadelphia South Asian Collective and a collaborator with the South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA). They’ve previously consulted with organizations like Feminist Frequency to develop advocacy work, video scripts, social media events, and strategic communication plans. They have also participated in the Sundance Screenwriters Intensive and are currently in development on a short narrative film, supported by the Philadelphia Independent Media Fund and the Sundance Institute. Their short, Love Reset, was a winner of MTV's Look Different Creator's Challenge. Imran Siddiquee is a writer and filmmaker challenging white supremacist patriarchy. Imran is also the writer and director of Sea of Fog, a short film about the impact of whitewashed romantic cinema which premiered at the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival. Imran is the current Communications Director at BlackStar Projects, home of the BlackStar Film Festival and Seen, and previously held the same position at MediaJustice and The Representation Project. They’ve also contributed to the anthology Nevertheless, We Persisted and the forthcoming Our Stories: An Introduction to South Asian America. Their essays on representations of race and gender in popular culture have been published widely, including in The Atlantic, Buzzfeed Reader, Longreads, Salon, Bitch, and The Week. Imran Siddiquee is a filmmaker, writer, speaker, and activist confronting imperialist capitalist white supremacist patriarchy.
